Jack and Jill Professional Dog Training: Providing virtual Dog training for dogs and guardians worldwide

Meet Jill!
KPA CTP
Jill Hassevoort is a Certified Training Partner through Karen Pryor Academy – one of the most rigorous training programs available to dog trainers.
Jill also holds a BA from the University of Michigan – it was during her time at U of M that she spent a summer living with a dog (named Jack) for the first time ever. Her time with him led her to understand how amazing dogs are as a species. Later, Jill adopted a dog, an American Staffordshire Terrier, also named Jack! It was her desire to dispel the myths about his breed and provide him with the best life possible that led her to learn more about dog training and how dogs learn – bringing her to where she is today.
Before making the career change to dog training, Jill taught high school Spanish. Her experience in the classroom gives her the teaching skills that she employs when working with clients. Her combination of top-notch education and real-world experience makes her the trainer you and your dog want in your corner.
Our Mission
Our goal is to help dogs and dog guardians everywhere develop more harmonious lives through humane dog training methods.
We teach all of our human clients how to teach all of our canine clients with positive reinforcement methods, because building trust and communication is the key to long term success, both in training and the lifelong bond between dog and guardian.
Equity and Inclusivity
We are committed to:
- Providing safe, quality ethical and inclusive training for dogs and their guardians from all backgrounds.
- Fostering a sense of belonging and acceptance for the entire canine guardian community – no matter the race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or neurotypical status of the individuals involved.
- Being a business that celebrates inclusion and stands up against discrimination in any form.
- Making sure every being involved in our program is treated with dignity and respect at all times!
And, while we are bound to make mistakes and don’t have it all figured out, we appreciate opportunities to grow and further our knowledge in these areas to better serve and support all of our clients and those we come in contact with.
Ask us about sliding scale rates and free class spaces for BIPOC participants.

Meet Jack!
Karen Pryor Academy Certified Canine Graduate
Jack is an 11-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier. He was surrendered to a shelter at age 3, fostered shortly by a wonderful family, and adopted by Jill in October 2014. Jack is a canine graduate of Karen Pryor Academy, having completed a series of weekend-long workshops, training demonstrations, and a final assessment during which he performed ten behaviors back to back in front of an audience. These days Jack is mostly “retired,” but he still appreciates any chance to help Jill demonstrate an exercise as long as he’s paid well in whatever snack is available.

Meet Gracie!
J&J Certified Good Girl
Gracie is the newest addition to the Jack and Jill family. Jill fostered her along with her sister from the time she was 8 weeks old. Her sister, Frankie, got adopted by another family and Jill just couldn’t let Gracie go! Gracie is a more timid dog by nature and takes time to warm up to new people and environments. She and Jill have discovered that the dog sport of Canine Nosework goes a long way toward building her confidence with those things! Gracie is full of energy and enthusiasm and Jill adores her “naughty” behaviors.
